TEC Online Academy offers students in grade 6-12 a selection of unique and innovative college preparatory, honors and AP courses, each developed and taught by exemplary teachers from the TEC member districts.
Why an Online Academy?
The Superintendents of TEC’s member districts decided to work collaboratively to develop an effective and innovative model for online learning that mirrored the rigorous high standards and expectations of in-district daily classroom instruction. Their shared vision resulted in the creation of the TEC Online Academy, a collection of unique and engaging college preparatory, honors and AP courses developed and taught by exemplary teachers from our TEC districts.
A regional virtual school program, TEC Online Academy was originally designed to provide 24/7 online learning opportunities for students and teachers of the towns of Canton, Dedham, Dover, Dover-Sherborn, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Medfield, Millis, Natick, Needham, Norwood, Sherborn, Walpole, Wayland, and Westwood. It is an innovative initiative that promotes professional collaboration between teachers from across our high-achieving districts and enables each school district to offer an expanded program of studies for their students that includes exemplary, engaging 21st century learning experiences designed and faciliatated by highly qualified staff from TEC's member districts.
Today’s students must be provided with opportunities to develop the knowledge and skills needed to utilize technology-based applications to learn, communicate, access information, collaborate and compete for advancement whether they pursue a career or attend college. The online learning environment blends the accessibility of the Internet with the expertise of our highly qualified teaching staff to offer a greater range of rigorous and engaging academic programs that are available on demand to literally thousands of students 24/7.
The TEC Board of Directors, comprised of member Superintendents, and a representative of each local school board oversees the work of the TEC Online Advisory Group.
