Teaching American History Grant

This program is open to elementary and secondary teachers, library/media specialists, special educators and/or curriculum directors.

Beginning in 2008, The Education Cooperative (TEC), in partnership with UMASS Boston as well as prestigious museums and institutions in Massachusetts and New York City has been awarded a Teaching American History grant from the United States Department of Education.

Participants in this extraordinary professional development opportunity will explore the complex history of immigration, industrialization, government and reform through primary source documents, esteemed professors and historical museums and institutions.

Each year of this in-depth professional development program includes:
  • Graduate courses in American History in the fall and spring
  • Week-long summer institute at partner historic sites and museums
  • Unlimited WebLessons access in the classroom
  • The opportunity to collaborate with educators from other districts
  • Stipends for participating teachers as well as free materials
