TEC TEACHER INITIAL LICENSURE PROGRAM
For secondary subject area teachers

Program Components:

  • For current teachers of record, four 36-hour courses with two in the summer and two in two-session modules
  • For those not currently teaching or without appropriate background, an additional course on technology integration may be required
  • A 40-hour pre-practicum and 300-hour (internship) or 150-hour (teach of record) practicum at the candidate's job site or placement site
  • Completion of a portfolio documenting how the candidate has demonstrated the Professional Standards for Teachers

Requirements:

  • A completed application form
  • Two recommendations
  • Passing score on MTEL Communications and Literacy and subject area tests and possession of a Preliminary License
  • Copy of current teaching certificate
  • Official transcripts
  • Statement of Philosophy
  • Résumé
  • $50 application fee

Cost:

  • The 2012-2013 cost is $3900 for the entire program for teachers in TEC communities
  • An additional $200 for teachers in non-TEC communities
